Falling For Sedona

My son...

My other son... fooled ya...

Sooooo WHAt there's no ocean there... and it's probably a good thing there's not much in the way of commerce, except tourism of course...  otherwise too many people there would destroy Sedona... a place like no other and as close to Utopia as you can get on planet earth... unless of course you're a city person... my dilemma... I love both!  It's early spring, so no flowers yet, but perfect daytime temperature for hiking, 65 to 70 degrees, and still very cool at night.

This was a family trip, a trip we took with another family, so we rented a van for the week...

Approaching the town of Sedona for the first time

Hiking is my husbands passion, so every morning we hiked for a few hours and sometimes more...
Trail head for Courthouse Butte at Red Rock Crossing

Meeting Bell Dome

... then in the afternoons we would tour or shop...
Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village

Nobody told me why Pink Jeep Tours is the best, I thought it was just because they were a large company... until our guide and driver Eric told us that they have an exclusive license to go on Broken Arrow, which if you're only doing one tour is the one to do... we did the combo 'Scenic Rim/Broken Arrow'.
The ride and scenery were thrilling even for the jaded

Our wonderful guide Eric 'scrambling' the rocks at 45 degrees

Sunset at Broken Arrow... the highlight of our trip

We bought a new camera for the trip, something I'd been wanting for a while... a digital SLR, the Canon T2i... it was amazing (with 18 megapixels)! Still learning it...

Prickly Pear Cactus looking like Mickey Mouse

Tomorrow... more about Sedona, the surrounding area, vortexes, and eating there!

  1. I LOVED Sedona! We were in Arizona for Spring break about 7 years ago. Of course, it cost money just to step out of the car in Sedona... but it was beautiful and the roads made my husband lose his mind for the twistiness. We enjoyed Jerome once we got to the top...
